i used to teach with these two and they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. ever.

i am terribly behind on blogging and am determined to catch up! i have had some wonderful sessions the past couple months and have a bunch lined up for this busy fall season!

isn't this baby boy just a dreamboat?!

he was such a little sleeper for me, too! i just love a cooperative baby!

he belongs to one of my oldest, dearest, and most hilarious friends, way back from high school! {yes, another high school friend...i just love them!} it was such a joy getting to photograph her with her sweet new family and catch up a little bit while working! just a beautiful time.

i think this one is my personal favorite from the session...he just looks so peaceful.

i loved that jennifer brought along kannon's teddy bear.

daddy had to head into work {he is a most fabulous chef}, but so glad i snapped this before he took off. they just grow way too quickly...

oh, precious boy. i can't wait to watch you grow!

this little guy belongs to a special friend of mine...we met in 9th grade and still continue to stay in touch, meeting up for dinner a couple times a year with our "outback four". so happy to have been able to capture her precious little peanut. he is beautiful and mama is glowing {exhuasted...but glowing and happier than i've ever seen her!} love you, jen!

i had an amzing {& amazingly hot} session last night with another good friend from high school! Jen and i have known each other since our freshman year and have never lost touch. we meet up with three other friends at least twice a year for dinner to catch up {usually at outback...so the group is usually referred to as the "outback girls.}. i was so ecstatic when she told me she was pregnant so many months ago and can't believe it is already time for maternity photos and a new sweet little man to come into this world! just a couple from our session last night!

& yes, the blog is still under construction...i apologize for the weird photo bucket glitch going on...it will be fixed and more gorgeous than ever very, very soon!! so excited!

i just wanted to share a few images from a session a few months ago. i adore this sweet family and their new little addition is just perfect in every way. maybe it's the hair, or the round sweet face...but oh, how i wanted to take him home with me!! just reminded me so much of my two when they were new! mama is a friend from high school and i was thrilled when she contacted me to photograph this amazing time in her life. nothing sweeter than a new life and a loving family!

it has been so long since i have updated this space and yes, it is under construction...gettting revamped and a whole new look. fancified by this pretty lady! can't wait to see what kind of pretty she has up her sleeve! so i thought i would come on, say hi, and introduce myself...again! so you know the face that is behind the camera!

here i am...in all my new haircut, feeling rawr, glory! seriously, it had been so long since i had taken the time to get my hair cut and styled i forgot how incredibly amazing it feels...

my two. life has been crazy the past few weeks with surgery and bouncing the kids around from grama to grama. mostly because there was no way i could take care of them until i had recovered a bit more and bo had to take care of me, right?! so glad to be back on my feet with my two favorite sidekicks! turns out they were not in the photo mood tonight, but i still got a few that i adore of my two.

my poor blog. i have been totally slack. a lot going on, life, i guess. i have been shooting a bit here and there and wanted to share some recent work!

i went to high school and middle school with keith. we reconnected through facebook and he is getting married this weekend to a super sweet girl. they are adorable together and i had so much fun taking some engagement shots for them! can't wait for the wedding this weekend! congrats you two!

i can't even begin to tell you how much i LOVE photographing newborns. it is my absolute favorite! this sweet little guy came and spent part of the morning with me the other day and he was just absolutely precious! i sort of wanted to keep him....

his parents were absolutely adorable, so totally my style and up for whatever! he wasn't very sleepy, but i managed to talk him into a little catnap for a few sleepy shots. so glad i did, i even caught a little dreamy smile...such a doll baby!

& that tie dye onesie...swoon!

these two boys were so adorable and so much fun to photograph! they are both all boy and full of fiestiness {is that even a word?!} i went to high school with their mom and it was so fun to see her again after several years! She even brought along nanny to get in on the action! i think this session just oozes summer...i just love boys! my friend shelley also came along & i'm so glad she did! she is a pro at getting those smiles and giggles, silly girl!

i have been so blessed to make some photography friends that love to share and learn and grow together and from each other...photography friends can be very hard to come by, i'm not sure why...i recently met up with an awesome girl from my photography forum to chat and we got together again to get some sweet shots of an almost three week old baby girl.

she wasn't into sleeping at.all, but still got some pretty shots. isn't she a gorgeous baby?! i definitely don't have baby fever, but oh my, i loved getting some newborn snuggles tonight. i really don't know if there is anything more amazing than a new baby...and then seeing the love between the family, so awesome! thanks so much shelley for trusting me and sharing this beautiful girl, gorgeous field, and yummy light!

i mean seriously...to be 17 again!

i had so much fun shooting my niece's senior pictures last week! she is such a natural in front of the camera and made my job totally easy! she's gorgeous, has the cutest, style, and...well, is beyond beautiful!
had to get one with the boyfriend :) cute little couple!

i had the pleasure of photographing one of my high school friend's daughters, niece & nephew last weekend. let me tell you, it was an absolute blast! these three were so sweet together and they were just oh-so well behaved! i had such a great time photographing them and it was so good to see cindy again after 2+ years!

i had a great experience last thursday morning! i got to meet up with jenna cole in arlington for a bit of a shadowing/mentoring session. i contacted her a while back asking if she would ever be interested in allowing me to shadow her and to my surprise she answered me back and she said she was! yay! so my good friend vickie {mama of this "country girl"} woke up extra early and got all dolled up to be our model. she is so gorgeous! i learned so much and had such a great time. jenna was amazing and i instantly felt like i had known her forever. she answered so many questions i had and i learned tons just by watching her shoot and her interaction with vickie! i think it's awesome when i find a new photography friend. anyway, here are a few of my shots:

yep, it's official...my nine month old son is now crawling....all.over.the.place! so long to life as we know it...i am now going to be chasing after two kids! it is so fun to watch him crawl around and be able to get to things he is interested in. he is most definitely curious and loves to follow around his big sister. he is continually trying to get into her toys, which she firmly tells him "no, you can't have that!" such a good big sister. i have told her why he can't play with her toys {most are too small}, and she will search through bins and bins trying to find one that is safe to give him, asking me to approve them one by one. so sweet that she loves to protect him and share with him {and boss him...it must be the woman in her!}

one of my favorites from today...my first newborn session that the little one did not want to go to sleep.....very sad. trying again thursday...fingers crossed he is super sleepy and ready for some photos. {not lovin' the diaper....but hey, had to share this sweet face...i mean, really...how adorable is he?! such a beautiful baby...and any day i get so spend snuggling & rocking a newborn, is a good day in my book!}

i had so much fun with this girl and her mom at their family's old farm land...so many hidden treasures and truely a photographer's paradise! i have known carly since she was in the fourth grade...now a gorgeous junior in high school....feeling old! her mom was my mentor teacher during part of my student teaching and we became and have remained true friends. i so cherish our friendship and i love the friendship i am developing with her girls...no longer the teacher/student, but woman to woman, you know! carly is one of three gorgeous girls, in one of the most amazing families you could ever hope to know.

my sister in law , christina, recently started her own floral event and design business. i think she creates the most amazing and creative arrangements! she had an event this weekend down in the stockyards and i popped in to check out the location {which was fabulous} and get a few shots of her incredible work.
if you are in the dfw area and in need of some arrangments for an event, you should most definitely check her out. not only is she amazingly talented, but she is also one of the most thoughtful and kind women you will ever meet. you will love her! and she will make sure to create something unique and personal for your event...this girl does not dissapoint!

who i am

for as long as i can remember i have always had a deep love for photography…old photos, cameras, and memories. my favorite books growing up were my baby books. i would spend hours flipping through the pages, examining each photo, asking to hear the story behind a smile, staring in wonderment at the small girl with sun kissed skin, in the pink swimsuit, big smile and messy braids staring back at me. the round face and chubby legs that are mine but no longer the same; these things amazed me…the tattered cream colored photo books on my shelves are proof of this time spent remembering through amazing moments frozen in time and printed on paper. collages created from pictures of my friends and i mixed with funky magazine clippings covered the walls of my childhood room. everywhere i looked i saw something that meant something to me, something that touched my heart and sparked a specific emotion inside my soul. that is what i want to give to you, more than a photograph; i want to give you a spark, a feeling, a beautiful moment frozen, one you can hold onto forever.
i have decided it’s time to take a step towards a dream, something i have always wanted to do, something i am passionate about. wanted photography. I am a natural light, on location photographer, offering a unique and creative experience. Located in the dfw area but willing to travel to surrounding areas.
keep an eye out! for the next six months i will be posting several casting calls. I am wanting to get some fresh faces & images for my portfolio!

i think if i could choose the one age i would want to photograph for the rest of my life, it would have to be newborns....hands down!

there is something so incredible about a new little person being brought into this world and a new life beginning. it's amazing to be a part of and to capture a baby in the first few days of life is pure magic.

i have only photographed two newborns, my son and a friends daughter. i have a tangled mess of ideas and i have begun knitting a collection of hats, cocoons, and hanging slings so if i get the opportunity to work with a newborn again i will be ready with all sorts of goodies and excitement!

i will be searching for newborn models in the next few months to work with and help build my portfolio...sooooo, if by some serendipitous chance you stumble upon my blog and are having a baby or know someone who is and would be interested in a trade...an hour of your time for some newborn shots...let me know!
